Have Miracles Ceased?
Mormon 9:19
19 And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be a God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being? And behold, I say unto you he changeth not; if so he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles.
Moroni 7:29
29 And because he hath done this, my beloved brethren, have miracles ceased? Behold I say unto you, Nay; neither have angels ceased to minister unto the children of men.
Someone asked us at a ward dinner the other day how our week had been. All I can say is Great!!!! I get to invite others to come unto Christ and see miracles every day! Being a missionary is my favorite thing ever.
This truly is the Lord's work and He truly directs it! Allow me to share with you some of the miracles that have happened over the past week in the lovely little city of Sheboygan this past week:
The Hoover family is looking up and moving forward! In the most exciting and high energy lesson on the Plan of Salvation that i've ever seen (which the whole family was present for--Score!!) We walked the family through Heavenly Fathers plan of happiness for us-His beloved children. Now Logan and Aly are both preparing for baptism and amazingly most of the family came to church on Sunday!
This week I was finally able to have an experience that allowed me to empathize with all those poor elders who would come over to our house for dinner and have to wait out on the porch till my dad got home. Except in this particular case, we never went inside. As sister missionaries we can't enter a home without a woman who is at least 18 years old present. When the well meaning Brother in our ward's daughter had to leave unexpectedly, we compromised and had our dinner in the backyard. With some characteristic Sista Mish flair we made our meal of shame into the fanciest little cafe you ever saw. Have I ever had a more entertaining and delightful dinner? I think not. Haha, miracles never cease people.
Guess what else? We are now in the midst of planning Marsha's baptism! 6 o'clock on May 30th and EVERYBODY is invited. She is so ready to make these covenants with the Lord and become a member of the true and living Church on the earth today! She is progressing so so well! And to sweeten the deal, the infamous Brother Klunk will be baptizing her. And in this case the word infamous applies as it does in the classic movie The Three Amigos. Meaning that in the Wisconsin, Milwaukee Mission Brother Klunk isn't just famous. He's MORE than famous ;).
Buckle your seat belts for this one: Mishone is a less-active lady that we have been working with for a couple of weeks now. She is sweet as georgia peaches, but told us very vehemently that she would not ever be coming to church. Ever. So guess who came to church this Sunday? Uh, Mishone and her boyfriend Brian!!!!! She came and she loved it. All due to her feeling her Savior's love as we gave her a church tour last week and have always expressed our love for her as well. It's a Miracle!
One miracle that i'll never ever forget:
We got to go the TEMPLE this Saturday!!!!!!!
I'm still not quite sure if this actually happened or if it was just my favorite dream, but despite being told repeatedly that the Sheboygan missionaries would not be able to accompany the ward on the highly anticipated temple trip (for many different reasons, the main one being that we aren't in the 2 hour radius required by our mission to be able to travel there), we accepted that as best we could, and focused on pumping up the ward to read the Book of Mormon in 63 days and prepared them to gather in the temple. BUT President Cutler's heart was softened and against ALL odds we were able to go to the house of the Lord and enjoy the amazing peace that is felt there. I was so grateful! What made me even more happy was to watch Carrie (who was baptized in February) bring her names from her own family to be baptized in the temple. I love her! And I loved attending the temple with the Sheboygan ward! And I loved being with Brother Klunk as he made additional covenants with the Lord and received his endowment. Despite what the Disneyland ad campaign says, the happiest place in the world is definitely the Temple. After that is my home and then Wisconsin and THEN Disneyland. Juuuuuust setting the record straight.
So, I rhetorically ask as the prophet Mormon did so many years ago...Have miracles ceased?
I say unto you NAY!! :)
I know that God is a God of miracles! That He loves us and is aware of us and longs to bless us as we follow His commandments and serve Him and others with all our heart, might, mind, and strength. And he answers the prayers of the missionaries!!!!!
I love you all! Keep praying for miracles because the Sister Missionaries of Sheboyboy are definitely appreciating it ;). Love you all!
Love,
Sister Wilson
